Genesis 16:1-5

Questions to help you dig deeper into this past weekend’s message:

Read Genesis 16:1-5. Have you ever tried to “help God out with His plans“? How’d that go?

Principle 1:When God gives a promise, there is often a gap of time between the giving of the promise and the fulfillment of the promise.” It was stated that God doesn’t delay due to PROCRASTINATION or PREOCCUPATION, but PREPARATION. What does that mean?

Principle 2:The gaps between God’s promise and the fulfillment of His promise provide opportunities for the muscle of faith to be exercised.” Read Hebrews 6:11-12 and Hebrews 10:35-36. How do these Scriptures relate to God ‘preparing’ us in the arena of faith? Can you think of a time when the Lord has done this with you?

Principle 3: “How we respond to trials is watched, scrutinized, & even imitated by those closest to us. Read Genesis 12:10-13. How is what Sarai does in Genesis 16 exactly like what Abram did in Genesis 12? Have you ever noticed someone noticing YOU during a time of trial or hardship? Was your example a good one… or not so much?

Read Proverbs 19:3. What can be the ultimate result of a person being filled with ‘themselves’ and not with God’s Holy Spirit?

Talk about the significance of 1 Timothy 6:6. Explain in your own words what the apostle Paul is trying to get across to Timothy here.
