Questions to help you dig deeper into this message for your family devotions or small group:
Read Romans 12:1. How can you offer your “body” as a living sacrifice? What does this verse add to your understanding of true worship?
Read Genesis 23:1-4. Sarah was obviously a pretty important woman in Scripture. What made her so important? Read 1 Peter 3:1-6 and Galatians 4:21-31 and look for characteristics in her life that point to why she was so important.
The first point made of a person who is a ‘living sacrifice’ was that they are in fellowship with God. What does this mean? What does it look like? How does Matthew 7:23 relate to this?
Read Psalm 56:8. What does it mean to you that God collects our tears? When we are sad and grieving, if God’s response was, “Deal with it! Get over it!” how would that make you feel? Is it important to you that He actually cares and ‘sympathizes’ with us (Hebrews 4:15)?
The last two characteristics of a person who is a living sacrifice were: “They see themselves as aliens… just passing through” and “They don’t allow anything to stop their race”. Read (Hebrews 11:13 & 1 Peter 2:11) and discuss these last two points and how they relate to where you are living today.
