The God Who SEES

Genesis 16:6-16

Questions to help you dig deeper into the message for your small group or family devotions:

Read through the entire text: Genesis 16:6-16. What stood out and spoke to you most in this message?

Read Matthew 18:12-14. What does it mean to you that Jesus is our Good Shepherd.

Pastor Michael shared about the temptation that many of us face to be ‘expedient‘ rather than ‘obedient‘. When Sarai did this, and failed to seek the Lord and His will, the result was that, to this very day, world leaders are trying to figure out what to do concerning the tension, hatred, animosity, and bloodshed stemming from her bad choice. Talk about a time when you, or someone you know, struggled with this temptation.

Hagar was running back to Egypt (her old life, the world) and away from the “family of faith”. Read Matthew 18:10-11. How do you think God feels about those who call themselves ‘His’ and yet abuse and hurt others? What other Scriptures come to your mind that talk about this?

God is ‘El Roi‘, the ‘God Who Sees Me‘. What does that mean to you? Is it important? Is it scary?
