Feruza

Feruza is a Bible Translation Consultant working in Eurasia. A bible translation consultant thoroughly
goes over the translation with the team, checking for accuracy, clarity and naturalness, and looking for omissions, extraneous thoughts or possible misconceptions.
As a translation consultant Feruza is also involved in training the translators and the exegetical advisors, mentoring professionally the future translation consultants. Consultants are expected to lead workshops and take part and contribute in seminars, conferences.
Feruza is also a translation co-coordinator for the operational unit of SIL that works in the territory of the former Soviet Union.
Prayer Needs
We always need prayers for our translators who are often not believers. Most of the time we are translating the scriptures into languages where the Good News of Jesus has never been preached, thus there are no believers. Best practices of bible translation require that translators of projects are mother tongue translators. In each project, whether the translators are followers of Jesus or not, we have exegetical advisors who learn the project language. Exegetical advisors are often masters level experts of biblical languages and translation principles. These experts help the translators learn translation principles, study their own language (minority languages are often not studied within the community itself). Most of the translators live in hostile conditions where their lives are threatened, if they are Christians, then they are persecuted heavily by the government and by their friends/family. The economic conditions have been adversely affected by the Russian war on Ukraine. Please pray for wisdom for Feruza as she checks the translated text and as she disciples the Christian translators. Pray also for the non-Christian translators, that the Word of God they are translating would change them and their families, that they would join the Kingdom of God.
Feruza travels to each eight geographically separated teams twice a year to check the translations in person.
Feruza is married to Dave and they have one daughter and two sons and now one new son-in-law.
