Homes of Hope is a partnership ministry with The Alpine Chapel, where each fall our church sends a team to Mexico to build a simple, adequate home for a needy, hard-working family-often in the northern Baja area near Tijuana or the YWAM base. Teams typically spend 2-3 days framing. roofing, and finishing a modest home, working side-by-side with the family and local volunteers. This hands-on service creates meaningful moments of shared labor, laughter, encouragement, faith conversations, and prayer.
As part of YWAM San Diego/Baja (Youth With A Mission), Homes of Hope International has been bringing hope to the poorest of the poor since 1990. Founded from a humble offering to Jesus and driven by compassion, the ministry has built over 6,300 homes across more than 23 nations (operating in 27 total), impacting over 350 families each year-nearly one new home every day.
More than 130,000 volunteers have joined short-term mission trips to construct these homes in partnership with local communities. These builds provide not just shelter but dignity, stability, and a gateway to broader community transformation and spiritual impact-sharing the love of Jesus through practical service.
Our annual fall trip from The Alpine Chapel allows us to live out radical hospitality and compassion by serving families in real need-building homes while building relationships and pointing to hope in Christ. It's a powerful way for our church family to touch lives beyond Telluride, grow in faith together, and experience the joy of sacrificial service.
