About Steve
Steve and his wife Debbie started coming to Telluride in the summer of 1996 and
brought their children here every year to escape the hot Texas summers. Their
children, Morgan and Sam, are grown and visit when they can. The Pruetts bought
their house in town in 2012 and their son finished high school here. Debbie
spends summers and ski season here while Steve commutes here when he can
take a break from running an active oil and natural gas company in Midland,
Texas. Steve has a BS in Petroleum Engineering from UT Austin and an MBA from
Harvard. He’s spent his entire career in the oil & gas industry as an engineer,
finance professional, and business leader. Deb and Steve love the outdoors, hiking
and biking in the summer and skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.
Steve’s spiritual journey began while living with his grandparents in South Texas
where his grandfather was a lay preacher. Since that time, he has lived in many
cities and joined a few different denominations. He found a spiritual home in
Midland at First Presbyterian Church where he has served as a deacon, elder and
trustee and continues to serve on the endowment and mineral committees. With
Debbie’s time commitment to Telluride, the Pruetts involvement in the Alpine
Chapel has grown from being spectators to members to committed servants to
the body of Christ. Steve brings years of continuous board service with the county
hospital, private secondary education, and public higher education to bear.
